Our Ugly Maiden

There was once a girl, with attitude galore Who sat on a cliff and thought of lost lore. So sure was she to be an acclaimed success She lost track of reality And soon became depressed. While her chums ran off to the best temples of knowledge, Our ugly maiden had to make do with community college! Dreams of a distant land and price charming all came crashing down on our delicate darling! For too choosy was our lady, that she lost all the riches that came her way. Now alone and helpless, haunted by demons of her future Our ugly heroine is no more the proud vulture. All that she deemed beneath her attention Suddenly seemed beautiful and full of redemption. Though ugly, our maiden is not all rotten Though she lost her best even before it was gotten. Now an empty future with a low life awaits for our ugly maiden from the high life. Try she might, she will never achieve what she once set out to be

What Would I Leave Behind?

Would I leave behind a grieving wife; Who forever I promised to protect In the comfort of my arms? Would I leave behind children; more dear and precious to me than the rarest of diamonds? Would I leave behind kids; Happy, laughing kids that belonged to the future? What will I, a mere man of modest means leave behind to make my mark? Would I leave behind a sterling example of fine masculinity or, the image of a failed man? Would I leave behind a vision, Or Blinded eyes that saw no hope? Would I leave behind a thriving enterprise Or Bills for debt collectors to seek? What would I, A man of virtue but not of wealth leave behind? I left, A daughter, who through marriage found fortune A son,who through sour wine met his ruin Another daughter, for whom I chose wrong and have forever wronged, Another son, who chose wrong and had to be forever content with his choice.
